Mortuary Care

Our mortuary is operated solely by women.

We believe in absolute transparency in what happens to your loved one when they come into our care. We have also found that over the past 100 years, humans have become disconnected from the death process. Believing in the importance of returning to more traditional practices, we offer all families the opportunity to wash and dress their deceased loved one (this can be done in the home or in our chapel).

It can be a most profound healing experience to take part in a final, loving ritual that was traditionally something all families performed for their loved one. We understand this will not be for everyone, and we will be honoured to do this for you. Out of respect, we wash and dress anyone who comes into our care, unless otherwise instructed by the family.

As much as possible we use gentle, non-invasive, eco-friendly practices in our mortuary and we gain the consent of the guardian of the deceased in all circumstances. We believe that the body is sacred, and we treat every body with the same respect we would treat our own family members.
